Theater

Theater, a plywood wood sculpture, was created as a study of the circle, the ellipse and the sphere. It was created in Apple-plywood and turned by hand in 3 parts: a half sphere – bottom “bowl” or Theater; a middle connector; and a top half sphere – or Dome. An open oculus at the top of the dome lets in natural light.

The sculpture seeks to merge the sphere and the ellipse, and is an ode to The Pantheon. It also serves as an exercise in further study of Baroque architecture, and in particular, Borromini’s church San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane. The architectural sculpture was awarded Honorary Mention at Guild Hall’s Spring Exhibition, East Hampton, New York
