Interpretations of a Propeller

A study in representing an object in a full-scale measurement drawing, and creating an interpretation informed by the object, and it’s drawn representation.

The exercise explored a selected object, a beautiful vintage wooden airplane propeller from 1927, by creating a full-scale drawing of the object.

Following a meticulous investigation and representation of the object through a precise drawing, interpretation drawings of the propeller, using the full-scale representation drawing, was executed. The “free-interpretation” part of the exercise explored the propeller and it’s movement system using the shape of the propeller blades and metal plates as generators.
